Thank You!
I'll start this bulletin with a very sincere thanks for your service to our Nation, for your participation in our awesome Rotary Club and for allowing Patriots to serve at your side in our efforts to recognize and serve veterans and our community. Today, Veterans Day, is your day and we honor you today. We've begun the last quarter of 2024 and are headed into the busy holiday season. How did that happen so quickly? It's time to take advantage of the moment and make plans to support the upcoming Club events and Club meetings.
Thank you to those who showed up to put up the flags at the VA. Special thanks to the Pickard family (Natasha and the boys) who retrieved the flags from storage and brought them to the VA. Nearly 200 flags have been waving for the past 8 days in honor of Veteran's Day and will be on display through this Sunday. The dedication tags were added on Saturday. Be sure to thank those you know who bought and dedicated a flag for our project. Thanks again to Jay Coppock for managing this inspiring project for our Club.
Your next opportunity to show up for your Club is tomorrow, Tuesday, Nov 12, and we have a very special meeting planned! We'll meet at the Michael E DeBakey VA Medical Center, 2002 Holcombe Blvd, Houston, TX 77030 - 11:30am to 1pm. Our guest speaker will be Medical Director Francisco Vasquez and we'll gather outside at our Flags display for a photo op. Enter the main lobby and take the red elevator to the fourth floor and look for directions there. Please make the extra effort to join us for this special meeting and invite someone to join you.
Our biggest service projects of the year are in the coming weeks. The Club needs all hands on deck to make these successful! See more detail in this bulletin.
I've said this before and I'll say it again: there is no reason our Club shouldn't grow to become the biggest and most influential in our District. As a patriot, I'm a fierce supporter of veterans and there are many "out there" who love an opportunity to serve veterans. And, of course, as many of you are veterans, you know better than I do that veterans are the kind of people who truly understand Rotary mantra of Service Over Self. There is no reason why we shouldn't be regularly bringing like-minded, high-quality individuals to our meetings and service projects who help us with our mission to grow our Club and thus our ability to serve the veteran community and our community at-large here in Houston. Tell your Rotary story, share the Magic of Rotary (our 24/25 international theme) and invite others to join us every 2nd and 4th Tuesday, as well as to our upcoming special events.
