In honor of Memorial Day, May 26th, 2025, The Greater Houston Veterans Rotary club is proud to create our fourth annual Field of Honor®. Creating an awe-inspiring panorama, United States flags will fly in a solemn formation at Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center May 23, 2025 - . This stirring display of hundreds of flags will bring the community together in a patriotic tribute to honor our heroes. Each U.S. flag represents an individual and tells a story. Flags may be sponsored to honor all Veterans. This unique event is the perfect opportunity for all of us to remember and honor our many heroes. The display is open to all without charge. Don’t miss it!

Flags for Fallen Vets is dedicated to ensuring American Flags are placed at each Veterans Headstone at All National Cemeteries each Memorial Day. This year for Memorial Day we will be honoring Section T & T1 of the Houston National Cemetery.cTo effectively complete this humbling task we will need 75 volunteers on the 25th of May 9:00AM. Come hang out, have fun, and get to know others a little better. Bring your family and come on out for the day!
Fun starts at 10am. Installation will take place at 6pm. Hot dogs and burgers for lunch. Fajitas for dinner.
There is a neighborhood pool, a neighborhood fishing pier, a marina, a restaurant, a tennis court, a playground, and beach access all within walking distance. Everyone is welcome to spend the day doing whatever your little heart.

Our bi-monthly meetings for the Rotary Club of Greater Houston Veterans are open to guests, as well as our veteran and patriot Rotary Club members.

Susan starting volunteering at the very first flight of Honor Flight Houston in 2014. She found this charity matched her passion for seniors and veterans perfectly and hasn’t looked back. She is currently honored to serve as Chairman of this 100% volunteer run 501(c)3 charity. She also is a member of the Sidney Sherman Chapter of the Daughters of Republic of Texas and the George Washington Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She has been married 43 years, a Mom of two and a proud grandmother of three.
Notes: Arrive at 11:30am to buy lunch and get seated. The official meeting starts promptly at noon and we have FUN. We meet in a private room just west (to the right as you enter front door.) Our Club is all inclusive and we welcome everyone. We ask that you honor our standards and do the same. We have a quick prayer and honor both the American and Texas flags at our meetings.
We meet on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month. We are LIVE and online for both of those meetings. Our Club is composed of Veterans AND Patriots. Tom Kelchner Join the Rotary Club of Greater Houston Veterans and the Rotary eClub Houston to hear Rotary District 5890 Governor present plans and answer your questions. From his grandfather to charismatic President John F. Kennedy, Tom Kelchner takes inspiration from personal and global leaders. The common denominators among his heroes were their altruistic and modestly humble approach to the world. Actions speak louder than words. He has shown his belief in big action with big rewards throughout his career. Tom is a proud member of the Rotary Club of Baytown where he served as club president and multiple leadership roles.
He is a 33-year veteran of public education with the bulk of that served in Dallas Independent School District. He has worked in nearly every level of education, from a teacher to assistant principal, dean of instruction, principal, and director positions. He has served students at all levels, including elementary, middle, high school, and special education. The heartbeat of his pursuits has always been scholarship and learning.
Tom and has served on numerous school, district, and community committees working with students, parents, board trustees, superintendents, executive-level management, and community leaders from all walks of life.
